Zero Boys

The finest LA hardcore punk ironically comes from the midwest - the Zero Boys from Indianapolis, IN. If you like The Germs, you'll like this - fuck it, these guys are better than The Germs! Fast, mean, socially and politically charged punk.

Here are a couple tracks off their classic LP, Vicious Circle (1982), available as a 2000 re-issue on Lookout!/Panic Button Records with 2 bonus tracks.

From Vicious Circle (1982):
* Amphetamine Addiction
* Livin' in the 80's
* Hightime

I have no idea why these guys are not more well known. Seriously. They stand on the same level as punk/hardcore legends like Black Flag, Dead Kennedys and Bad Brains.

Available on Lookout! Records.

Modernettes

I know I've posted them before, but I've been listening to them too much lately so here's a couple of tracks from this Canadian mod-revival band. These are taken from their second EP, "View from the Bottom", which was included in a great Modernettes comp from Sudden Death entitled Get It Straight.

From View From the Bottom EP (Vox 1982):
Rebel Kind
Femme Fatale
Red Nails
I Can Only Give You Everything
Static

To tell you the truth, I prefer their Teen City EP; it's a bit more mod-revival w hile this one is sort of new-wave (and the song "Barbra" is a classic!) but I posted that before, so why not give you guys some new material?

Get It Straight is available from Sudden Death Records.

The Modernettes seem to be regrouping, unfortunately for me it's all on the West Coast! They play March 9th at the Funhouse in Seattle, WA.
