Zero Boys

The finest LA hardcore punk ironically comes from the midwest - the Zero Boys from Indianapolis, IN. If you like The Germs, you'll like this - fuck it, these guys are better than The Germs! Fast, mean, socially and politically charged punk.

Here are a couple tracks off their classic LP, Vicious Circle (1982), available as a 2000 re-issue on Lookout!/Panic Button Records with 2 bonus tracks.

From Vicious Circle (1982):
* Amphetamine Addiction
* Livin' in the 80's
* Hightime

I have no idea why these guys are not more well known. Seriously. They stand on the same level as punk/hardcore legends like Black Flag, Dead Kennedys and Bad Brains.

Available on Lookout! Records.

The Panics

The Panics were a shortlived teen punk band from Bloomington, Indiana and were really only around for one year (1980-81). They're pretty straightforward punk rock, what you'd expect from the era. Nothing too original, but really fun to listen to nonetheless. They have a cocky sense of teenage nihilism which really comes through with songs like "I Wanna Kill My Mom" and "Best Band (In Bloomington)", which are about what you think they're about. It takes me back to when I was 16 and hated everyone and everything. Fun times - I'm not being sarcastic!

From I Wanna Kill My Mom 7" (1980):
*I Wanna Kill My Mom
*Best Band (In Bloomington)
*Tie Me Up, Baby! (Gizmos cover)

All The Panics recorded material can be found on the comp I Wanna Kill My Mom from Gulcher Records

Fuck You! Pogo! Pogo!
